Question
Hi Harsh,
I have been using 3D Studio for a while. What I have is a sphere and a triangle on the screen. I map a bitmap onto the sphere and based on the positions of parts of the bitmap on the sphere, I reposition the triangle to line up with the orientation of the bitmap on the sphere

Now my problem is this. When I map the bitmap onto the sphere, the resolution on the screen is SO POOR that I can't see sufficient detail of the bitmap in order to reposition my triangle. The only way around this has so far been to render the screen, see where the triangle sits relative to the (bitmap on the) sphere and then move it a bit, then re-render etc. This is never going to work for me. There must be a setting somewhere that allows one to increase the screen resolution of a mapped bitmap.

Please could you help me with this? If you know of a better piece of software for doing this, I'd be grateful. Also, once the bitmap is mapped, I don't actually need to mover the sphere (or the camera) so it would be great to be able to render part of the screen and keep the rest "moveable" and non-rendered. Is this possible as a workaround?

Many thanks for your help.
Appreciate it,
Tarik

Answer
Dear Tarik,
   Thanks for that nice question.

The thing which you can do to increase the resolution of the image mapped on the sphere is, In the Material Editor you can decrease the horizontal & vertical tiling of the image mapped.
And also click the button "Show Map in the window(browser)"
