Question
I'm getting some noise from the front end of my toyota, only when we are going over a ruff surface. It sounds like something loose, rattle, clanking noise only when you hit a bump. I could not see anything loose, and the dealer checked it saying it was coming from CV joints, also stated i needed a front bearing repack and stub axle lube. I'm not convinced with their answer, it seems to me that if it was those things it would be a constant noise wouldn't it. They told me $500 for CV boots only no joints, and $259 for bearing repack. I dont want to pay all that and still have noise problems.  Can you help me?

Answer
Dex, I would not pay them $500 for cv boots, lol the whold shaft you can pick up for about $100 at like AUto Zone, and you might want to watch out did they tell you what they are trying to pack for $259 ? Look at the Sway bar end links , thats a very commom problem for these 4 runners , I would get a different mechanic, Good luck, ADAM
