About Gary R. Del Carlo
Expertise
I became a teenager in December 1954. That's about when Rock and Roll started. I started listening to music before that. I can probably answer a lot of different questions from this time period. I don't consider myself an expert in anything, I don't profess to have an answer to every question, but I promise to do my best.

Experience
I grew up as a teenager in the 50's, and have many 50'songs in my record collection. I'm still a rock and roller.

Education/Credentials
Associate Degree from City College of San Francisco

Question
The other night I heard on sirius radio  crazy little mama
by the Eldordos. But it was not the version you always hear. It was a version I haven't heard since the 5o's. It was different. The lyrics were not the same. It mentions the line  five foot two eys are blue , looked like something from the brookdale zoo.  I have search and search and nobody knows any information on this other version. can you help. I was shocked when I heard it. can you help me solve this problem. thanks

Answer
Dennis,

There isn't a song called, "Crazy Little Mama", by the Eldorados. However, there IS a song called, "At My Front Door" by the El Doradoes. They had a #17 hit with it on Billboard on 10/15/55, and a #2 hit in Billboard's Rhythm & Blues charts on 9/28/55. The lyrics are below.

I searched the Internet, and never found any other lyrics for this song. What you might do is ask the same question of the other "experts" in this genre, on this website. Maybe one of them will know. Maybe someone made a parody that I've never heard of. Good luck!

AT MY FRONT DOOR
The El Dorados
Words and music by John C. Moore, Ewart B. Abner

Crazy little mama come knocking, knocking at my front door door door
Crazy little mama come knocking, knocking at my front door
Crazy little mama come knock, knock, knocking, just like she did before
Woke up this morning with a feeling of despair  lookin for  my baby and she wasn't there
Heard someone knocking and much to my surprise
There stood my baby looking in my eyes
Crazy little mama come knock, knock, knocking, just like she did before
If you got a little mama and ya want to keep her neat
Keep  your little mama off my street
Same thing will happen like it did before
She'll come knock, knock, knocking atmy door
Crazy little mama come knock,  knock, knocking, just like she did before
If you got a little mama and ya want to keep her neat
Keep  your little mama off my street
Same thing will happen like it did before
She'll come knock, knock, knocking atmy door
Crazy little mama come knock,  knock, knocking, just like she did before
Crazy little mama come knocking, knocking at my front door door door
Crazy little mama come knocking, knocking at my front door
Crazy little mama come knock, knock, knocking, just like she did before

<music interlude>

If you got a little mama and ya want to keep her neat
Keep  your little mama off my street
Same thing will happen like it did before
She'll come knock, knock, knocking atmy door
Crazy little mama come knock,  knock, knocking, just like she did before
Yi yi yi yi yi yi
Crazy little mama come knock,  knock, knocking, just like she did before
Oh oh oh oh  oooooooooo
music to end
