About Gary R. Del Carlo
Expertise
I became a teenager in December 1954. That's about when Rock and Roll started. I started listening to music before that. I can probably answer a lot of different questions from this time period. I don't consider myself an expert in anything, I don't profess to have an answer to every question, but I promise to do my best.

Experience
I grew up as a teenager in the 50's, and have many 50'songs in my record collection. I'm still a rock and roller.

Education/Credentials
Associate Degree from City College of San Francisco

Question
Such a coincidence...finding your site, reading Ruby's email. I have been looking for "My Song", for years! Would love ro find it (for free?) or ...? What is YOUR all-time, favorite, Gary?   Linda in Spokane '63

Answer
Hi Linda,

Are you talking about "My Song" by Aretha Franklin? I do not have that song. I know of 130 people that sing a song called, "My Song". Let me know.

As far as a song called, "My Song" that was in the top 100, that would be the one by Aretha Franklin as I mentioned.

You can by a CD with it at this website for $6.98, and you can also listen to a 30 second clip of it here as well:

Just in case this IS the song you want, here are the lyrics:

Aretha Franklin - My Song

You told me that you would leave me here in tears.
Now you're gone and hours seem like years.
So darling, I sing my song.
Your leaving makes my heart beat slow and slow
Now I'm wondering where did you go.
Please tell me, tell me what is wrong.

I still love you,
won't you please come back to me?
Come back where, where you ought to be.
Don't stay away from me
Cause you'll always be my own,
We'll be together for eternity.

You told me that you would leave me here in tears.
Now you're gone and hours seem like years.
And you left me singing a song,
I'm just singing a song,
you left me singing a song...

I can't really say what my all time favorite is because I have so many. There IS a song that you've probably never heard of that I heard once in about 1957, and never heard again, but I never forgot it. I finally found it in about 1994. It's called, Hey, Maryann" by the Sputniks on the Class label from 1957. No one else ever did the song as far as I know.
