About Gary R. Del Carlo
Expertise
I became a teenager in December 1954. That's about when Rock and Roll started. I started listening to music before that. I can probably answer a lot of different questions from this time period. I don't consider myself an expert in anything, I don't profess to have an answer to every question, but I promise to do my best.

Experience
I grew up as a teenager in the 50's, and have many 50'songs in my record collection. I'm still a rock and roller.

Education/Credentials
Associate Degree from City College of San Francisco

Question
Hi Gary:  I became a teen a little before that and there was a song sung by Buddy Clark who died in 1949, it was "When the wind was green", I can't get any info on this song, do you remember it????  Sincerely Vic.

Answer
Victor,

I was a little young for Buddy Clark. I was only 7 when he died. I just looked at all the song he had on record, and that song wasn't on there. However, I know that this particular song was also by Dick Haymes, and Frank Sinatra. The only lyrics I could find were by frank Sinatra, and they're below. You can also copy and paste the below link to your address bar, scroll down until you see the song, and then click Listen, and hear a 30 second clip of the song.

When The Wind Was Green
by Frank Sinatra

When the wind was green
At the start of the spring
When the wind was green
Like a living thing

It was on my lips
And it's kiss was fair
You were there

When the wind was red
Like a summer wine
When the wind was red
Like your lips on mine

It caressed my face
And it tossed my hair
You were there

Then came the fall and all of love
Came tumbling, stumbling down
Like leaves that lost to frost and found
They were flying-crying
In a brown wind dying

But the winter's come and we both should know
That the wind is white like the swirling snow
And we'll never see all the wonderful things to be seen
When the wind is green
