About Gary R. Del Carlo
Expertise
I became a teenager in December 1954. That's about when Rock and Roll started. I started listening to music before that. I can probably answer a lot of different questions from this time period. I don't consider myself an expert in anything, I don't profess to have an answer to every question, but I promise to do my best.

Experience
I grew up as a teenager in the 50's, and have many 50'songs in my record collection. I'm still a rock and roller.

Education/Credentials
Associate Degree from City College of San Francisco

Question
I am looking for the vegetable man song that was on a 45 on the flip side of a much more popular song. It starts out: Beets, Beets, how my heart beets for you, carrots, carrots, do you carrot all for me..etc...Have you ever heard of it? Thanks, Alice

Answer
Alice,

I'm sorry, but I don't find a song like that. The only song I find is "Vegetable Man" by Pink Floyd, and the lyrics are nothing like you have. However, I DID find a poem with words close to what you have. It's actually for Valentine's Day.

If You Carrot All for Me

Cabbage always has a heart;
Green beans string along.
You're such a cute tomato,
Will you peas to me belong?
You're the apple of my eye,
You know how much I care;
So lettuce get together,
We'd make a perfect pear.
Something's sure to turnip
To prove you can't be beet;
So, if you carrot all for me
Let's let our tulips meet.
Don't squash my hopes and dreams,
Bee my honey, dear;
Or tears will fill potato's eyes,
While sweet corn lends an ear.
I'll cauliflower shop and say,
Your dreams are parsley mine.
I'll work and share my celery,
So be my valentine.
