About Gary R. Del Carlo
Expertise
I became a teenager in December 1954. That's about when Rock and Roll started. I started listening to music before that. I can probably answer a lot of different questions from this time period. I don't consider myself an expert in anything, I don't profess to have an answer to every question, but I promise to do my best.

Experience
I grew up as a teenager in the 50's, and have many 50'songs in my record collection. I'm still a rock and roller.

Education/Credentials
Associate Degree from City College of San Francisco

Answer
Larry,

I have to compliment you here. That's the fastest I've ever seen anyone get back to me. Thanks, and thank you for the generous rating, I appreciate that.

"Speedo" by the Cadillacs. One kewl song! That's amazing that you haven't heard it before. It's one of my favorites.

"Speedo" reached #17 on the Billboard charts on 12/10/55. It also reached #3 on the weekly Billboard "Rhythm & Blues" Singles Charts on 12/28/55.

Here are the lyrics:

Speedoo
by The Cadillacs
Lyrics by: Esther Navarro

Boom boom boom......

[CHORUS]
Well, now they often call me Speedoo
But my real name is Mister Earl
Well, now they often call me Speedoo
But my real name is Mister Earl

All for meeting brand new fellas
And for taking other folk's girl

Well, now they often call me Speedoo
Cause I don't believe in wasting time
Well, now they often call me Speedoo
Cause I don't believe in wasting time

Well, I've known some pretty women
And that's caused them
To change their mind

Well, now some may call me Joe
Some may call me Moe
Just remember Speedoo
He don't never take it slow

[repeat CHORUS]

Well, now some may call me Moe
Some may call me Joe
Just remember Speedoo
He don't never take it slow

[repeat CHORUS]

And now they gotta call me Speedoo
Till they call off making pretty girls
