Question
QUESTION: I just happened to stumble on this site and saw this question.  In 12/06 a gentleman named Gary asked about a song where a man and a woman had an argument, the woman stormed out and was killed in a car accident.  I believe the song was named "The Beginning of My End" by the Unifics.  I think the album was originally released in around 1968.  How does that sound?  Hope it helps!

ANSWER: Hi Larry,

You gave me this information, but haven't really asked a question. I'll give you what I have on this song, and if you have a question after this, I'll be glad to help with whatever I have.

Yes, the song is, "The Beginning of My End" by the Unifics. It reached #36 on the Billboard charts on 12/14/68. You can find this song on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WALjBu_oG-g. You can also find it on albums in Amazon. I also have it in my collection.

QUESTION: Sorry about that.  You're right, you didn't ask the question.  Actually Shane asked you the question and at the time you didn't have the answer.  Your response was:

"Shane,

I'm sorry, but there's just not enough informtion here. This type of question can only be answered if I knew it right off the top of my head, but I can't because I've never heard a song with that story line. There are a couple of songs from the 50's that have the girlfriend getting killed in a car accident like "Teen Angel" by Mark Denning, but no mention of a funeral. I'm sorry Shane.

However, I do have a question this time...what R&B or soul group did the with lyrics:

"Breaking up is so very hard to explain, 'cause I'm always playing a losing game.  All of the girls that I ever had, why did they treat me so sad?  Tell me where did all my love go?  Where did it go where did it go?..."

I believe it was mid to late 60s.  Thanks.

Answer
You have me a little confused here. The Shane post. Where did you get that? I stopped answering questions for a couple of years, and just started up again the other day. This is only the 2nd one I've received since then.

Anyway, I DID research for the lyrics you posted, but I'm sorry to say, that I couldn't find anything with those lyrics. Have you asked the other "experts" on this website? No harm in trying.

I can usually find lyrics, and titles of songs, or names of groups.

Experience

I grew up in the 50's. My teenage years were from 1954 to 1960. I collect records from the 50's and beyond in many genres. Lots of Doo Wop, my favorite music. I answered questions on this website for a while with very good results. I just got burned out and took a sabbatical.
