50s Music/Song from the 50s on a 45 record - "Me Too"
Expert: Gary R. Del Carlo - 9/30/2010
QuestionDuring the 50s we had a 45 record and my sister and I think the title was called "Me Too" or "Copy Cat" some of the words were, "I wanta take a rocket to the moon, me too". We would love to have that record again but cannot find it. Can you help me? I would love to surprise her with it. It was one of those songs put on one side, maybe not as popular as the other one. Thank you, I'll wait to hear from you. Sandy

(I'm not absolutley certain of the lyrics, but this is close.)
Oh, I've got a baby sister
and she's learning how to talk,
but there are just two words that she
has learned to say, Me Too!
She follows me around the house
and plays with all my toys,
and at times I think I'll pack
and run away, Me Too!
I wanna go out, Me Too!
I wanna stay home, Me Too!
I wanna take a rocket to the moon, Me Too.
I wanna chew gum, Me Too!
I wanna play ball, Me Too!
I'm gonna lose my temper pretty soon!
(Giggle) Me Too!
Oh I know she's just a baby
and she'learning how to talk
but the same two words
are drivng me insane, Me Too!
?
?
?
?
Me too, me too, that's all she says, Me Too!

Hey Kevin,
I know that song. I had a record of it when I was a kid in 1950s Chicago. I don't think it's the one that Steve is looking for. You don't still have a recording of this, do you? My record also had "Tap Tap Tap Go Baby Shoes," and a few others. I think you've just about nailed the lyrics.

I've been looking for the same song for years ... it's one of my sister's favorites, bringing back good memories. It was on a children's songs record that my mother bought for us kids in the early 1960's. The record also had other songs on it like "Toot Toot Tootles the Tugboat."

Additional lyrics: "no matter what I ask her and no matter what I do - her vocabulary never seems to change"

I heard it on the same record with Toot..Tugboat.
Your question marks are:
"And yet I can't stay mad because I love her very much."
Me, too, me too, that's all she says, Me, too"
We are still missing a verse. I seem to remember, "I hear it in the morning, and I hear it all day long, I even hear it when I'm out at play." And there must be something else.

We had an old record when I was a young child and the lyrics went something like: Oh I have a baby sister and she's learning how to talk. There are just two words that she has learned to say-- "Me too!" No matter what you ask her and no matter what you do. Sometimes I think she's driving me insane! "Me too!" I wanna go out. "Me too!" I wanna stay home. "Me too!" I wanna take a rocket to the moon. "Me too!" I wanna play house. "Me too!" I wanna play ball. "Me too!" I'M GONNA LOSE MY TEMPER PRETTY SOON! "ME TOO!" Oh I have a baby sister and she's learning how to talk. There are just two words that she has learned to say. "Me too!" No matter what you ask her and no matter what you do, sometimes I think she's driving me insane!
