50s Music/Oldies Song Help.... Need Help Finding The Title Of A Song/ Artist that Sings It

Question
QUESTION: I'm trying desperately to find an oldies song from, I believe, the 50's, that I heard in an antique store once. It sounds like a group or duo of guys that sing it. Parts of the song, I think, go something like ''here and now'' and what sounds like ''down in my heart'', but not sure. To me, the people that are singing the song sound like either Herman's Hermits or The Everly Brothers, but am not sure. I really want to find this song. Can you please help me find it, or can you please give me a list of the songs you think it might be? I'd appreciate it. Please email me back at your earliest convenience. Thanks.....

ANSWER: Wow!  This is really so little and so many possibilities for one line which do not tie in with the other.  Peter Noone got Herman's gang together in 1964 so that might be too late and I can find no recording by Don and Phil which fits.  So many duo's were around - I even looked up my two singles by the Short Twins ('Love Is Just A Game' and 'Take A Look') which is as obscure as you can get and unless your memory cells can be activated to find a few more word from the lyric it's gonna be almost impossible to solve your riddle.  Never give up and I'll keep trying, but sorry, at this moment I can make no promises - 'Nil Desperandum' as they say!  It would be easy to refer to the children's religous song 'Down In My Heart' with many versions available, but that would be a 'cop out' as I can't hear 'here and now' in there anywhere - so on we go!

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: It's definitely not the children's song 'Down in my heart', or the other two songs you mentioned. Thanks for answering anyway. If you found any other songs that you think might be it, please let me know. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Answer
Come on!  That's too easy and although I appreciate that you are as much at a loss as I am the moment there must be some other hints and ways to sort this - for example is it a ballad type or up-tempo and if so which tempo?  Is the backing sound a guitar-type group or a band or an orchestra. Any other little things you might remember will help.  I don't like to give up so soon and even though we have drawn a blank at the moment it is less than 24 hours since we started this thing - remember the luvvly David Soul singing 'Don't give up on us Baby' - not yet anyway.  Come back to me with anything, however trivial it might seem - you never know (Platters) what might yet happen....

Can't find a smiley face or I'd put one here!

Expertise

I stopped collecting in the late 90's when the sales of vinyl dropped off and non-music took over the charts!

Experience

DJ in 1950's working in UK and Hong Kong. Collected singles from late 40's (US imports on vinyl and UK shellac - until 1990's had over 35000 at one time - sold most to a Lottery winner but stall have 2000 plus 45's mainly. Started as a teenager in UK and was (probably) the first 'disco' type dance DJ tp use 2 turntables so that continuous music for dancing from records was available in 1952. Had a weekly programme in Hong Kong in 57 which ran for 2 years titles 'Pick Of The Pops' which somebody used later in the Uk as a title!! Made many friends in the 50's - particularly Guy Mitchell, Gale Storm and Rosie Clooney. Met many others including Pat Boone, Paul Anka and even an interview with Sinatra which was not good as he was hung-over at 10am from the night before. returned to UK in 1960 and sent interviews from here back to the Far East - early Cliff Richard, Shirley Bassey, and Roy Orbison and - sadly - Del Shannon just before he left us!

Organizations
Chair of the Twinning Group Organisation between Wakefield and the German town of Herne. I also moderate a section of a Football Forum looking after the Bundesliga thread under the name os SchalkeUK

Education/Credentials
Retired from teaching in 2009 (all high school subjects at times) but mainly French, German and Maths. Before that I had 9 years in the Royal Air Force - connected with BFBS - 14 years managing a professional Rugby Club, 15 years in Local Government before going back to teach at age 63 to 71. Hate the modern-day use of kids as researchers who rely on incorrect sources withou having been able to experience the original items - many 50's hit re-recorded for Steroe and were very poor compared to the first version but are still passed off as the correct one. I suppose I could - at times - qualify for any series dealing with 'Grumpy Old Men', but as they say c'est la vie!
