Question QUESTION: Skimmer:
I asked this question before but didn't have the lyrics quite right. This is a R&B song from the 70's.
"He walked into the party,
And looked at everybody in the room.
She looked into those flaming eyes.
She went and stood beside him.
I thought she moved just a little too soon
I must admit to my surprise."
He's just a freak. (He don't love nobody)
He don't dance. (He just wants your body)
He's just a gigolo. (I don't think she really knows)
What is the correct title of this song and who sings it???
ANSWER: Hi Robaire,
Great song! THis is "The Gigolo" by O'Bryan. It was released in 1982 on the album "Doin' Alright". O'Bryan had another big hit with a remake of Stevie Wonder's "You and I" in 1983, as well as "Lady I Love You" in 1984.
I have included the lyrics below. Hope this helps and thanks for the question!
LYRICS:
He walked into the party
And looked at everybody in the room
She looked into those flaming eyes
She went and stood beside him
I thought she moved just a little too soon
I must admit to my surprise
He would not dance with her
He could not stay he said
He got no time to waste
He took her to, he took her to bed
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think she really knows, ooh, yeah
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think she really knows
I could not understand it
I don’t know why she followed him home
She had not seen this man before
He touched her with his body
And then she could not leave him alone
They left me standing on the phone
He would not dance with her
He could not stay he said
He got no time to waste
He took her to, he took her to bed
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think she really knows, oh, no
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think she really knows
(He’s just a freak)
(He’s won’t dance)
(He’s just a gigolo)
(He’s just a freak)
(He’s won’t dance)
(He’s just a gigolo)
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think you really know, ooh, yeah
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think you really know
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think you really know, oh, no
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think you really know, oh
(He’s just a freak) He don’t love nobody
(He’s won’t dance) He just wants your body, baby
(He’s just a gigolo) I don’t think you really know, oh, no
(He’s just a freak)

QUESTION: That was very quick. Thank You!
There have been another song I remember from a child.
It is an R&B song, by a Black Female Artist from the 60's.
"Hush, Somebody's Calling My Name". It is NOT a spiritual.
In fact, Bobby Darin did this same version as a Pop tune.
Who is this Artist???
Again, THANKS! for you prompt and much appreciated answer to my last question.
Robaire
Answer I see that Bob Raymond tried to answer this question. Was his answer not correct? I will copy and paste his answer here, let me know if this was what you are looking for.
Perhaps you're thinking of Damita Jo's recording of "Hush, Somebody's Calling My Name". It is the same one Bobby Darin did, written by Belford C. Hendricks, Clyde Otis and Cynthia Young. It's based on an old spiritual but the lyrics were changed.
Darin recorded "Hush..." on 12/5/58 but it wasn't released 'til September of 1960. The lyrics go:
"Hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name
Hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name.
I hear a voice so sweet an’ clear
Calling me angel an’ a honey dear
Well, whoa-ho, hush, hushWhoa-ho, hush, hush
Whoa-ho, hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name.
Hush, I say hush
Somebody's calling my name
Whoa-o-o, won't you hush
Somebody's calling my name.
If it's the girl I've been searching for
I'll tell the world I won’t-a search no more
Now, whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name.
Well, talk to my mother wouldn't do me no good
Talk to my brother wouldn't do me no good
I talked to the gypsy and she said, Rejoice
You’ll know your lover by the sound of his voice.
So hush, I say hush
Somebody's calling my name
Whoa now listen, won't you hush
Somebody's calling my name.
I see my baby up on a hill
I love her now and I always will
So whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name, yeah …
Somebody’s calling my name, yeah …
Somebody’s calling my name, yeah …
Somebody’s calling my name."
Damita Jo's version was released the following year on the Mercury label.
FOLLOW-UP
Thanks for the kind words Robaire! It's funny you mention Janet Jackson, as Damita Jo was the favorite singer of Janet's mom. That's how Janet wound up with Damita Jo as her middle name. Anyway, her full name is Damita Jo DuBlanc and I have found a good website with lots of info:

Let me know how it works for you!
