Subject: footprints in the sand
Question hi! good day! i want to ask who is the singer of the original version of footprints in the sand. i have searched on google but it alwys gives me Leona lewis and bill anderson who happens to be a country singer but i think it isnot him who sang it. the version that i am pertaining to is a man narrating the lyrics and the chorus was sung by gospel singers (women) i am sure you know this song pretty well because this song is popular. i used to hear this on my moms rdio station when i was young, (that was 80's) i grew up in the eightees, anyways i will be glad if you can give me the singer. thanks. Godbless!
Answer I have searched copyright laws, and found several disputes over who wrote the christian poem. Further revelations staes thae Leona Lewis, and bil andersone did recored the song, as well as several others that NEVER got radio play.
The only other singer that even remotely fits your description is :
Cristy Lane (born Eleanor Johnston on January 8, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois) is a Country music and Gospel music singer. She is best known for her Country hit "One Day At a Time", which rose to #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1980.
Her song can be heard here:

Once again , unfortunately there is no male voice narrating the song.
But there is a gospel group sound backing up her vocals.
I have tried my many, many sources, and I cannot seem to come up with ALL that you remembered in your description. It may be true that Ms. lane at one time had a recording out done up in such a way. But I cannot find the reference for it.
I hope I have helped in some kind of small way.
Thank-you
william
