80s Music/an instrumental smooth jazz fusion song

Question
Hi, i know this may sound stupid, but there was this song i heard in a mix made around circa 1986-87 (the dj was using it as a background track to scratch with)that was moderately  funky, electro-influenced, instrumental around 104-106 bpm with these smooth echoing chime sounds an this jazz organ kit that was the bomb.  Do you know of any sites out there with samples of this genre of music that might have a 30 second sample? I would know this track if i heard it. WHen i hummed the melody some people told me it was Herbie Hancock, but have found nothing. I tried other artists that might have done it such as Jeff Lorber. The song is a lot like Herbie's "future shock" to a degree, but similar to some of the modern day Thievery Corporation acid jazz stuff too. Any ideas?

Answer
hey martin, that one must have been really great stuff. i suppose i also would enjoy such slow-grind rhythm especially around that bpm. i'd love to be of help but i somehow cant figure out what that was. i remember we used "love's theme" as background track then but i think that wasn't you had in mind. if only we have the title and artist it would be a lot easier to look for it on any music sites around, but then again i'm not being of help here dude.

The 80s: a decade where the music was grand. i learned a great deal on the wonderworkings of new wave artists; those pop-rock ditties were remarkable, yet the laid-back love songs were always as good as it was then. as regards artists and their songs,i maybe of help though i'm partial to rap, country, and metal. I am also a smooth jazz junkie and may have infos to take you along a splendid music cruise in our time.
