There was a movie, don't know what it is, released in the 80's with a bunch of great 80's music. I remember the album had a pinkish cover.  I think Pete townsend was on it, but I don't know.  I really want to find this soundtrack.  It is not Breakfast club.  It was one of those obscure movies with a Great soundtract, but not a big hit.

I don't know about the pink cover, but you must be referring to the soundtrack album of the 1986 movie PLAYING FOR KEEPS which stars DANIEL JORDANO, MICHAEL PENN and LEON W. GRANT. The soundtrack album includes tracks from PHIL COLLINS, JULIAN LENNON, CHRIS THOMPSON & ARCADIA among others. PETE TOWNSHEND contributed LIFE TO LIFE.

And then there's another movie soundtrack which includes another PETE TOWNSHEND song, 1980's LET MY LOVE OPEN THE DOOR, 1997's GROSSE POINTE BLANK starring JOHN CUSACK. The two-volume soundtrack album contains several 80's music like TAKE ON ME by a-ha and THE KILLING MOON by ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN and some 70's, too like UNDER PRESSURE by QUEEN & DAVID BOWIE. It could also be the one in your mind.
