Question
DEAR BONG SANTOS,
I AM A FIRST TIME SUBSCRIBER,
THE WORDS ARE: COME ON, COME ON, TWO HEARTS THAT BEAT AS ONE, I NEED YOU, I NEED YOU.' SHE SOUNDS LIKE THE MADONNA'S REMIX OF 'YOU CAN DANCE'. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

Answer
Dear Suzy,

That would be TWO OF HEARTS by STACEY Q. She surely sounded like MADONNA, I myself mistook it for a MADONNA song when it was released in 1986, the reason I initially felt bad as I noticed it wasn't included in the TRUE BLUE album I just bought then. But when I saw the video, only then did I saw that it was a different singer, but still with a touch of MADONNA.

Well, STACEY Q is STACEY LYNN SWAIN in real life, a dancer and actress who used to work as an entertainer at Disneyland Park in Anaheim. TWO OF HEARTS was her first solo single after stints with the bands Q and SSQ. It was initially released on her first solo album STACY Q in 1985 but TWO OF HEARTS did not gained popularity until it was re-released on her second album (her first for a major label), 1986's BETTER THAN HEAVEN. TWO OF HEARTS went to No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. It could have hit the #1 spot, but STACEY Q was signed to ATLANTIC RECORDS and ON THE SPOT RECORDS at the same time, and both labels released and promoted the single simultaneously, therefore competing with one another. The follow-up single, WE CONNECT, was released in 1987 and peaked at No. 35 on February 28, 1987. Here's its lyrics:

TWO OF HEARTS / STACEY Q

I never said i wasn't gonna tell nobody
no baby
But desperate lover, I can't keep it to myself
oh no
When we're together it's like hot coals in a fire
oh baby
My body's burning so come on heat my desire
come on come on

Two of hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Two of hearts
I need you, I need you
Two of hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Two of hearts
come on, come on

People get jealous cuz we always stay together
yeah baby
I guess they really want a love like yours and mine
together forever
I never thought that I could ever be this happy
yeah baby
My prayers were answered, boy you came in the nick of time
ohhh

I got this feeling that you're going to stay
I never knew that it could happen this way
Before I met you I was falling apart
But now at last I really know we're made of

(chorus)

I never said I wasn't gonna tell nobody
no baby
But desperate lover, I can't keep it to myself
oh no
When we're together it's like hot coals in a fire
oh baby
My body's burning so come on heat my desire
ohhh

I got this feeling that you're going to stay
I never knew that it could happen this way
Before I met you I was falling apart
But now at last I really know we're made of

(chorus)

Maraming salamat po!!

Expertise

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.

Experience

Let's just say music is my life and my source is a lifetime of knowledge about 80's music and then some.
