80s Music/State of the Nation

Question
Bong
Do You think Industry, the band who composed the song State of the Nation could be convinced to come to the Philippines to perform their nostalgic music? Maybe people would be interested to see them. What do you think?

Thanks

Answer
Dear Brian,

I believe INDUSTRY still commands a respectable following here in Manila. They were a cult fave back in 1984 when STATE OF THE NATION was a huge hit here. So huge a gossip spread that the whole band perished in a plane crash which many people believed as STRANGER TO STRANGER appeared to be their swan song release. That only added to their "mystical aura". The only problem that I see with INDUSTRY performing here is the lack of songs in their repertoire. I don't think their pre-STRANGER albums ever saw release here. A possible solution: a back-to-back concert with another 80's band. A few months, WHEN IN ROME and A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS did a back-to-back here. Unless, of course, JON CARIN can take a break off his PINK FLOYD attachment. Which would not be far-fetched if you are BRIAN UNGER (just a hunch!).

Maraming salamat po!!

Expertise

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.

Experience

Let's just say music is my life and my source is a lifetime of knowledge about 80's music and then some.
