Could you be looking for this song, MAGHINTAY KA LAMANG by Japanese artist TED ITO. He became a sensation when he sang the Tagalog version of the popular Japanese song SAIGONO IWAKE by HIDEAKI TOKUGAWA titled IKAW PA RIN. Both the songs incidentally were 80's songs but single releases from 1991. Here's its lyrics:
