I’m trying to remember the female singer's name and her song which she played during 1985 Oscar Award.

That’s about all I remember…..I know it’s a long shot, but any help is appreciated

Not only it is a hard question but tricky as well. You said 1985 Oscar Awards Night, does it mean the awards night that recognized movie songs from 1984 or the ones that came from 1985 movies and presented in the 1986 Awards Night. So I'll just enumerate the nominated songs from both year which was sung by a female.

From the 1985 Oscar Awards Night, there was a lone female performer, DENIECE WILLIAMS who sang the nominated LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY from the 1984 movie FOOTLOOSE.

In 1986, MISS CELIE'S BLUES (SISTER) from the movie THE COLOR PURPLE was nominated for Best Song. It was performed by TATA VEGA.
