On 4-14-07, someone asked "Kerry" on this sight, "hi kerry, im trying to find a song i think was in the early 80's, some of the words went a bit like this " hello this is jody sorry that im not home, but if you leave me your name and number i promise as soon as i get in i'll phone." "Kerry" was not able to answer the question, but asked for more info, such as gender of the singer, genre, etc.

I, too, have wondered about this song for years. Someone in my office is named Jody, and everytime she says her name, those lyrics run through my head. I believe the story of the song was that "Jody" died, and someone was calling her phone # to hear her voice on the answering machine. It's possible also that this could have been from the late 70's.

You were partially right...the name was Joannie not Jody and it was by :Paul Evans - Hello, This Is Joannie.
