hi bong,
i'm a filipino living in new york city.  i was just trying to find a song that was a big hit in the late 80s and was used in philippine airlines as 'take-off' music in 1989 when i flew there...very catchy, jazzy-pop along the lines of matt bianco - i'm pretty sure it is an english artist/group.  the whole song is based on latin-pop flavored ascending arpeggios i think played on acoustic guitar.  i remember it was big in manila, cos my cousins there always played it.

Dear Robin,

I don't really have any idea what the song is. But a couple of songs that Philippine Airlines used in the past were LOVE AT 30,000 FEET by JOSE MARI CHAN & SUNLIGHT by KEVYN LETTAU. Another tune used in the late 80's or early 90's was an original composition I believe the title is SHINING THROUGH. You can find it still posted at YouTube.
