hello armagedonboi, what you heard was the song "Taken In " by Mike+The Mechanics, an English rock/pop band formed in 1985 as a side project of Mike Rutherford, a founding member of Genesis. They are best known for their hit singles "All I Need Is a Miracle" and "The Living Years".
"Taken In" is a great example of those soft rock ballads you know you're hearing from the 80s, once you hear it again.
