Question
There is a song that I love but can't find anywhere; I listened to it a couple of months ago on youtube but lost the link. It is called "sailor"--not absolutely sure and I think it is by Sting. It is not Sail on Sailor. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Answer
Hi Ibrahim,

There's not much to go on here, but there are a few songs that come to mind. But without more details, these are only long shots. Here are four possible matches:

1. Sting - "Wild Wild Sea", from the 1991 album The Soul Cages. The theme is a dream about being lost at sea, with lots of sailing imagery.

2. Sting - "The Soul Cages", also from the album The Soul Cages. This song is a bit more ambigious in it's meaning, but also includes a lot of seafaring imagery (fishermen, sea, sailor, etc)

3. Chris DeBurgh - "Sailor" from his 1980 album Eastern Wind. Includes the chorus "Sailor can you hear me, sailor hear my call, sailor take me with you, sailor take me home".

4. Rod Stewart - "Sailor" from his 1974 album Smiler.  The theme is a groom getting cold feet and escaping from wedding ceremony, but includes the main refrain "Sailor show me which way to go".

All of these were easily found with on a YouTube search, with the exception of Rod Stewart's "Sailor".

Hope this helps,
Erick
