Question
I am trying to find a song with the chorus 'I'm running away from home' which was out in 1985-86.  It was quite a depresing song, not very cheerful.

I don't know the title so can't find it on the Net.  I thought the group sounded Australian or American but I could be wrong.  I have searched google and u tube but can't find a clue to it.

I heard Dale Winton play it on Pick of the Pops a few years ago, so it must have hit the Top 40.  He said after it something like 'Jonny's Song' I think.

Please help if you can.

Answer
Hi Poppy,

You may be looking for "Driving Away From Home (Jim's Tune)" by It's Immaterial, a one hit wonder in the UK, reaching #18 on the UK Singles Chart in 1986.  I must admit that, being from the US, I was not familiar with this song prior to your question.  But my research found a similar question on AllExperts back in 2009 which had an overwhelming number of follow up responses all citing "Driving Away From Home (Jim's Tune)" as the answer. I took the extra step of searching for a Pick of The Pops / Dale Winton connection and it appears that he has played the song on the show. So, I am confident that this is the song.  But if it isn't, please respond with a follow up and I'll try again.  Here's a link to a YouTube recording of the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGYTDCdwuLA

Thanks,
Erick
