Question
"In the mid 80's (85-88) I was working for some friends in CT and was doing a lot of driving. This meant that I was listening to A lot of Commercial Radio out of NYC (No such thing as IPODS or even not a lot of Internet) I once heard the Classic tune by the Rightous Bro.'s Rock and Roll Heaven The Version I heard included an extra Verse to include Roy Orbison, Andy Gibb, and I think One other. Can you tell me if this was a one time thing or is there a version out there I can Download/ Purchase. I would be very Grateful

Hi Andrew,
The Righteous Brothers remade "Rock And Roll Heaven" in 1991. The new version paid tribute to Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Roy Orbison, Jackie Wilson, Ricky Nelson, Dennis Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Mama Cass Elliot, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. There is no mention of Andy Gibb and this version doesn't fit the time frame when you remember hearing it, so I'm not sure this is the version you heard. I don't know of any other versions by The Righteous Brothers or any covers by other artists. So if this isn't it, you may have heard a local cover version, possibly by a radio DJ or local artist to memorialize recent rock and roll deaths.

| Comment | Erik Thank You very much for your quick responce I realized after I submitted the Q that It had to be later than 88 cuz Roy Passed in Late 88 and I was not working for my friends at that time. What I remember is driving up a street in Stamford(My home town) I may have been back there for a visit (I moved to Fla in 2/90) I could have been wrong about Andy Gibb After listening to the sample you sent that is it I still think You are right and I may have heard a local version since I remember the whole song But I am old and My memory could be off.
