Question
OK, here it is. In late October I was watching "VH-1 One Hit Wonders". The artist was French-Africian (from Ghana?). I forgot the subject matter, but he had such and interesting tone. I had some of his songs, but my computer crashed. I also remember that he is gay, and the name was close to "Labatte" or "LaSalle". Any ideas?

This one is tough. For one, I reviewed VH-1's Greatest One Hit Wonders list of the 80's and I can't find any artist with its name sounding like that. First thing to come up in my mind is the trio LeVert who had a Top Ten hit back in 1987 with Casanova. It may also be an act from the 90's which as you may understand is out of our topic. As for LeVert, problem was they're a trio, not a he and they were American.

I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.
