Sorry for the late reply. You are looking for the song SEND ME AN ANGEL by the Aussie band REAL LIFE. Yes, it was from the 80's, inspite the fact that the song has two popular hit versions (though as I am writing, the recent count has got it 17 versions). Originally released in 1983 from the album HEARTLAND, it peaked at #29 on the Hot 100 on February 11, 1984. A remixed version was released in 1989 for their BEST OF REAL LIFE: SEND ME AN ANGEL album this time it was billed as SEND ME AN ANGEL '89. It did better than the original peaking at #26 on July 22, 1989. On both versions, guitarist/vocalist DAVID STERRY did the vocals. Here's how it goes:
