Questionthere was this foreign movie in the 80's about skateboarding where in the end they had to race with one another. i forgot what the title was. i really wanted to know what the main soundtrack was. I'm thinking it was Let The Love Begin by Gino Padilla. Could it be possible that an American movie used Gino Padilla song?
AnswerDear Marlon,
The movie was THRASHIN' which starred a young JOSH BROLIN released in 1986. An original soundtrack was not released which featured songs from DEVO, FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS, BANGLES and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS among others. Included in the soundtrack is the origianl version of LET THE LOVE BEGIN sung by JIMMY DEMERS & CAROL SUE HILL. Written by GLORIA SKERLOV & LENNY MACALUSO, the song was re-recorded for the movies' 1987 Philippine promotion by GINO PADILLA & ROCKY. In 2005, the song, this time remade by KYLA & JEROME JOHN HUGHES, was used as main theme song of a Tagalog movie, LET THE LOVE BEGIN which starred RICHARD GUTIERREZ & ANGEL LOCSIN.
It can be recalled that another practice of re-recording an original theme song of a foreign movie to be released for Filipino promotion occured probably the first time in 1986 when LA BOUM 2 (released as READY FOR LOVE 2 in the Philippines) was shown here. Its main love theme, YOUR EYES, an original by COOK DA BOOKS, was re-recorded by JOJO ALEJAR.
Maraming salamat po!

P.S. Marlon. sorry I forgot to give you the 1987 local title of the movie THRASHIN' when it was released here. The movie was released here as CHALLENGE TO WIN. My apology.
