Question
You sound like the person in the know. I do not have much to go on but will do my best to describe. There was a video played on MTV quite a bit when MTV first began airing. The song did not have any words (very few, if any) and had a young girl 6-8 years?? with alot of make up walking around a piano in almost a march. At the end of the video, I believe they cut the piano up with a chain saw. I also believe there were one or two men "marching" with her. The song kinda went DOM, DOM, da da da da da da da da da DOM, DOM. and had a synthasizer sound to it. What is the title and artist? I often think I am king of the 80's but if you can answer this, I am willing to give up my self proclaimed crown. Thanks .

Answer
Dear David,

You might be looking for the song CLOSE (TO THE EDIT) by THE ART OF NOISE. In the music video, shot in a railroad station, the girl and the 3 masked persons took turn cutting up a cello a grand piano. The song was a huge Hot Dance Music hit back in 1984 when it was released off their 1984 album (WHO'S AFRAID OF?) THE ART OF NOISE! THE ART OF NOISE was an avantgarde synthpop formed by producer TREVOR HORN, music journalist PAUL MORLEY and musicians ANNE DUDLEY (also an Oscar-winning musical scorer for THE FULL MONTY), GARY LANGAN and J.J JECLAZIK back in 1983. Check it out on You Tube.

Hope I got it right.
Maraming salamat po!!

Expertise

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.

Experience

Let's just say music is my life and my source is a lifetime of knowledge about 80's music and then some.
