There was a song from the early 80s with a lot of guitar. Probably 82, 83 or 84. All I remember was the lyrics repeated "On the Highway" da da da!
I can't recall if this was a one hit wonder or not.

The clue ON THE HIGHWAY was too short for me to identify the song. This will be a longshot guess. It could be HIGHWAY TO HELL by the Australian hard rock band AC/DC from their 1979 album HIGHWAY TO HELL. Here's its lyrics:
