hi
gotta a question for you regarding the name of a song from the 80s--maybe
the early, early 90s at the latest
i thought it was by the Jets or El Debarge or Chico Debarge of some kinda
obscure act.  it is definitely a man singing and in the middle of the song he
calls up his girlfriend and you hear the phone ringing and ringing like 5 times
or something and then he finally yells, "Pick it up!" and it cuts back into the
beat and music and such.  i known this isn't a lot of info, but i'd appreciate
anything you got on this.

It is CHICO DeBARGE alright. That's his first solo hit out of his self-titled debut album released in 1986. The title: TALK TO ME, it peaked at #21 on the Hot 100 Chart on February 21, 1987. CHICO, whose real name is JONATHAN ARTHUR DeBARGE launched a ver promising solo career in 1986 but got derailed when he was imprisoned on drug charges. After serving time in prison, he went back to recording but could not duplicate his earliest success. His latest album is 2003's FREE. He also contributed a song to the soundtrack of the QUEEN LATIFAH movie BEAUTY SHOP (2005).
