(maybe R & B)and heard it in a Buffalo (NY) supermarket:

Slow song, very solid voice

nobody seems to know what song I mean but if you play the notes that I gave you might recognize it. Its a slow love ballad

Note:  Theselyrics may be off but the chorus notes are correct.

I didn't check out the notes you gave but the lyrics were similar to the song THE SEARCH IS OVER by SURVIVOR. It was a cut from their 1984 album VITAL SIGNS and hit #4 on the Hot 100 on July 13, 1985.
