Question
Hi again,

I'm originally from Cebu and have been here in the U.S. for 13 yrs now. I really miss the early 70's and 80's music. I have another 2 songs, I dont' know the title so I would really appreciate if you could help me. The 1st one is I
believe maybe early/late 70's...the singer is male if not maybe a group and here it goes, I hope I'm right about the lyrics...."Everybody wants to find a blue bird...everybody wants to find some...lo.....ve....oohhhh...."..something like that.

The 2nd song is a female and it starts with ocean waves...... " day dreams that will come true...you show me rainbows..living inside of me somewhere....when your love...keep shining through...your love... keep shining through....oohh.....ha......ohh..(ocean waves in the background)"
This 2 songs are very special/favorite and it's just too bad that I don't even know the title and the singer so please help!

Thanks,
Jasmine

Question -
Hi,

I also love 80's music and there's a group in particular that I cannot remember the name. Their
song goes..." I'm not an actor I'm not a star.. and I don't even have my own car...I'm hoping so
much you stay..cause I love you anyway." something like that. I hope you could help me.

Thanks,
Jasmine

Answer -
Dear Jasmine,

You are talking about the Danish band called MICHAEL LEARNS TO ROCK. Though unknown in the Western Hemisphere, they are very popular in their native homeland as well as the ever-eclectic Asian rim. Formed in 1987 around a tiny bar band by vocalist JASCHA RICHTER plus guitarist MIKKEL LENTZ and drummer KARE WANSCHER. In 1988, SOREN MADSEN agreed to sit in on bass during a rehearsal one evening, thus forming MLTR. In 1991, their self-titled debut album was released. This album contains the song THE ACTOR which secured MLTR's hold on the #1 position on the Danish album sales chart. The song was well-received and topped the charts in Norway, Sweden, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
SOREN MADSEN left the group to pursue a solo career in 2000 while work for their fifth studio album BLUE NIGHT was beginning. Now down to a trio, their latest album was released in 2004, TAKE ME TO YOUR HEART.
Here's how it goes:

THE ACTOR / MICHAEL LEARNS TO ROCK

He takes you out and he
Takes you up
’cause he can show you so much
I go to bed and tomorrow again
There’s a lot of work to be done
He gives you gold and
He’ll promise you
The whole world will be yours
I just can tell you I love you so
Even though my odds are low
Chorus:
I’m not an actor I’m not a star
And I don’t even have my own car
But I’m hoping so much you’ll stay
That you will love me anyway
The dirty games and the
Neonshows
This is the world he knows
Watching the stars satisfies my soul
Thinking of him makes me feel so cold
The fancy cars and the
Restaurants
You’re just so fond of the man
Sometimes I wonder if you are blind
Can’t you see, he’s got dirt on his mind
Chorus:
I’m not an actor I’m not a star
And I don’t even have my own car...

Answer
Dear Jasmine,

After asking a question about MLTR, you had a sudden shift of era. Probably your parents' question this time, LOL!

The first song is EVERYBODY WANTS TO FIND A BLUEBIRD by noted film composer RANDY EDELMAN. EDELMAN also wrote a BARRY MANILOW hit well-loved by Filipinos, 1975's WEEKEND IN NEW ENGLAND as well as his another solo hit from 1983 PLEASE DON'T STOP REMEMBERING. BLUEBIRD came off his 1975 album PRIME CUTS and was a minor hit in the US peaking at #92 on the Hot 100 on March 29, 1975.
Here's how it goes:

EVERYBODY WANTS TO FIND A BLUEBIRD / RANDY EDELMAN

In our hearts
We all have our dreams
And in our minds
We all have our schemes

But no matter who you are
We all got our scars to live with

Look around and what do you find
Different faces, different minds
But no matter where you go
We're on the same plateau
We all wanna know

Where am I ever gonna find a bluebird
Where we ever gonna find some love
Cause everybody wants to find a bluebird
So go on and look up above

Friday's gone, nowhere to go
The weekend's coming
But you don't wanna know

Come on, get something on
All hope's not gone
Cause you might find it
(You might find it)
You know you might find it

You know you might find a bluebird
You know you might find some love
Cause everybody wants to find a bluebird
So go on and look up above

(Where am I ever gonna find a bluebird)
(Where we ever gonna find some love)

Everybody wants to find a bluebird
Everybody wants to find some love
Everybody wants to find a bluebird
So go on and look up above

Everybody wants to find a bluebird
Everybody wants to find some love.

About your second song, I'm having a problem finding it. It could be that the lyrics you gave me is wrong. Anyway, I will consider it further. I will post a follow up when I get it.

Maraming salamat po!
