80s Music/Artist & title

Question
Hi,
Can you tell me the title & artist of a dance song that became a hit about the same time as Taylor Dayne's Prove Your Love (1988 I believe)? Part of the song goes: Shoop shoop baby doo wop you gotta bang bang (2x).At least it sounded that way to me. I'm sorry this is the only clue I can give about the dance song.
Also, there was this jazz song that became a hit early nineties. I believe the title of the song is Troubled Mind. It's uncannily similar to Still A Friend of Mine by Incognito. Can you please give me the correct title and artist of the second song?
Good luck and more power.
Thanks.

Answer
Dear Michael,

The closest song that I know that contains lyrics such as SHOOP SHOOP and BANG BANG is a song by MONTE VIDEO & THE CASSETTES. But the song is from 1983 so I could be wrong, its title: SHOOP SHOOP DIDDY WOP CUMMA CUMMA WANG DANG. Here's its lyrics:

SHOOP SHOOP DIDDY WOP CUMMA CUMMA WANG DANG /
MONTE VIDEO & THE CASSETTES

Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang

Well the Shoop Shoop stands for the mood you're in
And the Diddy Wop mean let the fun begin
It's a feeling gonna set your senses reeling and you can't sit still
Cumma Cumma mean what you thought, that's right
And the Wang Dang gonna get you through the night time
Baby there's a right time if you wanna lose control

Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang

Shoop Shoop - li'll party, nothing formal
Diddy Wop - she's in the corner, looked quite normal
The Cumma Cumma, empty glass, bold as brass, pinch me, hang about
Wang Dang

Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
She said Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang

Well the Shoop Shoop stood for her mood alright
And her Diddy Wop gave me a nasty fright
Sought of feeling that-a sent me senses reeling and you can't sit still
Cumma Cumma meant what I thought, touche
And the Wang Dang, err, anyway, nearly died, mortified, nearly lost control

Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang
Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang

As for the jazz song, it could be TROUBLED MIND by EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL from their 1994 album AMPLIFIED HEART. Here's its lyrics:

TROUBLED MIND / EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL

Don't say one thing one day,
then something else the next day.
I'm trying to keep up with you
- it's hard enough when you speak clearly,
but when you're confused,
it's like a goods train running through these rooms.

And I'm reading more into your words than you have put into them,
and that's my problem, but you tied these knots, now you undo them.
You undo them.
Oh and think before you speak my darling.

Cause with your troubled mind,
you're like a goods train running through my life.

We all walk through this world alone,
we keep ourselves untouched, unknown.
You look up to the sky above you,
read this there - I love you.
Oh it's written there,
you know I love you, love you, love you.

But with your troubled mind,
you're like a goods train running through my life.

And when you're down,
you bring me down too,
and babe that's something I would not do.
I know it's hard, yeah I know it's hard,
and baby that's something I don't disregard.

But with your troubled mind,
you're like a goods train running through my life.

Maraming salamat po!!
