Expert: Bong Santos - 6/8/2007
QuestionHi Bong! I have this song from the 80's that have the following words: "Hi-fidelity high, hi-fidelity high... keepin' it high, alright..." (not really sure if this is accurate...) Obviously sung by a female. I heard this from XB102, usually followed by Hey Mickey by Toni Basil. Thanks in advance!!!
AnswerDear Rene,
The song is HI-FIDELITY from the television series FAME which was a spin-off of the 1980 movie of the same name. It was credited to THE KIDS FROM FAME but lead vocals were provided by singer-actress ERICA GIMPEL who played the role of COCO HERNANDEZ (played by IRENE CARA in the movie version). The TV series ran from January 7, 1982 up to May 18, 1987 or a total of 136 episodes spread on six seasons. Among its notable alumnus were JANET JACKSON (as CLEO HEWITT - Season 4) and NIA PEEPLES (as NICOLE CHAPMAN - Season 4-6). Here's its lyrics:
HI-FIDELITY / THE KIDS FROM FAME
Other boys may turn me on
but I let temptation slide
used to be so plain to see
the hunger in my eyes
But now I'm buying trying
High Fidelity high
High Fidelity high
keeping it right
keeping it tight
all right
Quadraphonic sounds stereo desire
coming to you loud and clear
like a brand new fine tuned radio
and I'm so glad you're here
Someone to lie with fly with
High Fidelity high
High Fidelity high
High Fidelity high
keeping it light
keeping us tight
all right
Is it real or is it synthesized?
maybe I'm hypnotized
I need you baby my feelings are true
I'm saving my love for you
You're in my dreams and in my heart
on my frequency
I'm the number one song on your chart
it's where I want to be
Some one to lie with fly with
fly with
High Fidelity high
High Fidelity high
High Fidelity high
keeping it light
keeping us tight
all right
High Fidelity
Maraming salamat po!!
