Question
Hi Bong,
I'm looking for mp3 of Dear God by XTC. Is it correct that this song has two versions? The one I'm looking for was sung by an artist with a child-like voice.  Thanks in advance!

Answer
Dear Tea,

Sorry but I don't have an mp3 copy of DEAR GOD by XTC.

DEAR GOD was originally a non-album track issued as B-side of the single GRASS, a single lifted from the album SKYLARKING. Due to DEAR GOD's popularity, the album was re-released with DEAR GOD included and another track (MERMAID SMILED) omitted. Some CD version of the album include the two tracks as in the 2001 remastered CD.

As for your question regarding another version of the song with a child-like voice, there's only one DEAR GOD version. The voice of a child part was used in the beginning and end part of the song. It was sung by then 8-year old JASMINE VEILETTE, the daughter of a friend of the song's producer, TODD RUNDGREN. The song was also covered by SARAH McLACHLAN in 1995 and hip-hop artist TRICKY in 2003.

Maraming salamat po!!

Expertise

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.

Let's just say music is my life and my source is a lifetime of knowledge about 80's music and then some.
