80s Music/Identifying a song from the 80's
Expert: Bong Santos - 10/23/2006
QuestionWhen I was in high school (graduated 1985) there was a song that was popular in the New Wave Dance Clubs (like The Maxim in Salt Lake, where I lived) that I have been trying to identify/find, but have been unsuccessful for about 8 years and counting. It's sound was along the lines of New Order Blue Monday, The Prodigy, or Blanc Mange, and the song had 'laser' sounds in it (people often danced while 'shooting' the lasers in the song. There were deep male vocals, but I never really heard what words they sang, and I don't know the name of the band or song. I can hum the tune for you, but not easily through this email question, and that's all I have to go on. Any ideas on this song? If it would help, I would be glad to hum it if there is a way to get that to you to help identify the song. I have been searching for about 8 years, and have been waiting for the day when I finally figured it out.
AnswerDear Zane,
That would be like shooting (lasers) to the moon. I have known a couple of songs with laser sounds but not from that era. I personally doubt it's the one you're searching.
The best thing we can do is send me an audio clip with you humming the song on an mp3 file through a link that is compatible with a Real Player. I'm not promising anything though. Let me remind you that the song could only be a house hit in the Midwest and not a countrywide hit. I'm from the Philippines and songs that are usually popular here are US-wide hits.
That said, let's see what I can do. Will wait for your reply.
Maraming salamat po!
