There's so many songs that contain lyrics similar to what you mentioned. A little more detail of the song could have done wonders. So I'm venturing into guessing the song that has the closest similarity. It sounds like FAITH by GEORGE MICHAEL. I'm not pretty sure as FAITH is a worldwide hit and quite impossible that you didn't know this song. Anyway, the song starts with sort of a "church wedding strain" played in an organ and with a rock 'n' roll flavor (classic guitar, not too heavy drumming, tambourines). FAITH is from GEORGE MICHAEL's FAITH album released in 1987. It hit #1 for 4 weeks from December 12, 1987 to January 2, 1988.
