80s Music/OPM Song in the 80's
Expert: Bong Santos - 10/25/2006
QuestionI've been trying to find this song. I heard it playing in a Filipino Store here in San Diego, CA. Anyway I can only recall a few of the lyrics...Here it goes..
Chorus:
"And I will be seeing you there..All that I ever need, I all that I ever see."
I hope it's enough for you to let me know what it is. Thanks a lot! By the way, YOU are the 80's Master!
AnswerDear Bheng,
I'm not so pretty sure but I have a gut feel that song is SEE YOU THERE by pianist JOSELITO PASCUAL. Unfortunately, I do not have lyrics of the song so we can't check if it's the one. It
sounds like WHATEVER WE IMAGINE by JAMES INGRAM and if you are familiar with DAVID FOSTER's works (he wrote the melody of WHATEVER WE IMAGINE), you will notice similarity with the songs' arrangements.
Maraming salamat po!

Dear Bheng,
I'd like to correct my previous answer. I told you that JOSELITO PASCUAL performed SEE YOU THERE but a quick check showed my mistake. SEE YOU THERE was sung by former NEW MINSTRELS member DING MERCADO. Recorded in 1989, the song was written by LOUIE OCAMPO & FREDDIE SANTOS. My apology.
Here's its lyrics:
SEE YOU THERE / DING MERCADO
I
Now come into all I hope to be
Believe you in all that I need is real
Without a worry or care
What a surprise and what's to find
Reachin' the top of what's on my mind.
Refrain:
And to be seeing you there
All that I'll ever need
All that I'll ever see
Putting the light in all of my nights
Whenever I see you there.
All that I need to hope
Warming my very soul
Each step I take I'll take unafraid
Knowing it's you.
II
Now coming to all I know is true
All that I need to see me through
Is gone and know I'd see you there.
(Instrumental)
(Repeat Refrain & II)
Coda:
See you there
I'll see you there
Cause you ain't gonna see me
And ain't gonna see you
I see you there.
Maraming salamat ulit!
