HI!  I am looking for the group or name of the song that has the lyric "We're doing what can't be done...(after that it could say "mind over matter") but I can't tell...

any suggestions?

That would be MIND OVER MATTER. Written by MICHAEL JAY and RICK PALOMBI, it was originally recorded as a UK single by NIKKI LEEGER back in 1986, appearing in several maxi-singles. BLONDIE's DEBORAH HARRY re-recorded it for the soundtrack of the 1987 movie SUMMER SCHOOL but contractual obligations (DEBBIE HARRY just left CHRYSALIS to sign up with GEFFEN) prevented them from using DEBBIE HARRY's voice. CHRYSALIS re-recorded it and replaced it with E.G. DAILY's voice. Here's its lyrics:
