80s Music/Philip Bailey's songs
Expert: Bong Santos - 8/20/2007
QuestionHi there Genius ;)
Thanks and you're back. Could you tell me "all" of(well, not "all" but any you can think of)the songs of Philip Bailey of EWF (Earth, Wind & Fire). I knew he had a song with Chaka Khan & other soul artists, and he had other love songs that became a hit. Also, please give me mp3 format of the song (or any links to download it) of Phyllis Hyman's "What ever happened to our love" which I asked you for the title in reference to my previous questions.
Hey...by the way, you're my only favorite expert here! Keep it up!
Much thanks,
Charlene
AnswerDear Charlene,
Sorry for the rather late reply. I was so busy the past two weeks.
PHILIP BAILEY was not a big solo artist in the States except with his works at EARTH, WIND & FIRE and his duet with PHIL COLLINS. Everyone else remember EASY LOVER because of PHIL considering it was a PHILIP BAILEY solo hit. But he had several R&B hits once in a while.
Before EASY LOVER back in 1985, he had two R&B charting songs from his 1983 CONTINUATION album. I KNOW (R&B #35) and TRAPPED (R&B #43). The album also contains the ballad VAYA (GO WITH LOVE). For his 1985 Gospel album WONDERS OF HIS LOVE, he released PHOTOGENIC MEMORY (R&B #61) and out of his 1986 album INSIDE OUT, the single STATE OF THE HEART went R&B #20.
His final R&B hit HERE WITH ME went to #66 on the R&B charts despite an album produced by BRIAN McKNIGHT, PM DAWN and CHUCKII BOOKER.
And of course in 1994, he provided vocals to the album AN EVENING OF FOURPLAY VOLUMES 1 & 2. FOURPLAY consists of jazz greats BOB JAMES, LEE RITENOUR, NATHAN EAST and HARVEY MASON. It was recorded live at Capital Studio in Los Angeles and PHILIP was joined there by CHAKA KHAN and PHIL PERRY.
As for the mp3 request, I'm sorry I don't have the PHYLLIS HYMAN for the moment.
Maraming salamat po!!
