Question
There was a song that was very popular in early 80's.  It had a sound like ABBA and all of the words were a foreign language.  Not 99 balloons song.  More upbeat.  Can you tell me who sang it - or what it was called.  I have tried to remember and it is driving me crazy.

Answer
Dear Robin,

I can't seem to find your song. There's not too many foreign-worded songs sung by female acts but I can't seem to remember the exact song you are talking about. Only two crossed my mind. LANCA PERFUME by RITA LEE from 1980 and QUE TE QUIERO by KATRINA & THE WAVES from 1985. Unfortunately, I don't have lyrics of the second song. Hope the first one is it as it is closer to what you're saying that it was from the early 80s.

LANCA PERFUME / RITA LEE

Lança menina, lança todo esse perfume
Desbaratina, não dá pra ficar imune
Ao teu amor que tem cheiro de coisa maluca
Vem cá meu bem, me descola um carinho
Eu sou nenem, só sossego com beijinho
Vê se me da, o prazer de ter prazer comigo

Me aqueça
Me vira de ponta cabeça
Me faz de gato e sapato
E me deixa de quatro no ato
Me enche de amor, de amor

Lança, lança perfume
Oooou, lança, perfume, lança perfume...

Maraming salamat po!

Expertise

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.

Experience

Let's just say music is my life and my source is a lifetime of knowledge about 80's music and then some.
