QuestionHi there,
I've got a good one for you. What is the name of the Queen song where Freddy Mercury is wearing a pink tutu in the video? (He's in a house and I think he might be cleaning.) I've tried googling and I can't find a thing. Any idea?
Thanks for your time.
Karen
AnswerDear Karen,
The video you are describing is none other than QUEEN's I WANT TO BREAK FREE where the late FREDDIE MERCURY is in a drag complete with a vacuum cleaner that will give you an idea that he (or she) is a housemaid. Take note and check it out, didn't you notice that the other characters in the video were the rest of the bandmembers? The father, mother and their kid, I think, were played by JOHN DEACON (bass), BRIAN MAY (guitar) & ROGER TAYLOR (drums). The video was a parody of a popular soap opera in the UK, CORONATION STREET, the reason the song and video were well-loved there while in the US and some parts of the world, they see it as a mockery of the song, unaware of the joke. I WANT TO BREAK FREE is from the 1984 album, THE WORKS and was written by JOHN DEACON. It peaked at #45 on the Hot 100 on May 26, 1984.
Here's its lyrics:
I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies
Youre so self satisfied I dont need you
Ive got to break free
God knows God knows I want to break free
Ive fallen in love
Ive fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know its for real
Ive fallen in love yeah
God knows God knows Ive fallen in love
Its strange but its true
I cant get over the way you love me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I walk out that door
Oh how I want to be free baby
Oh how I want to be free
Oh how I want to break free
But life still goes on
I cant get used to living without living without
Living without you by my side
I dont want to live alone hey
God knows got to make it on my own
So baby cant you see
Ive got to break free
Ive got to break free
I want to break free yeah
I want I want I want I want to break free....
Maraming salamat po!
