80s Music/RADIO Question
Expert: Bong Santos - 4/11/2006
QuestionI have been asked to name a song with only a few subtle clues but it has baffeld me! The song was released in the 80's, rehashed and rereleased in the 90's and then performed at an awards ceremony in the 00's. Any ideas?
AnswerDear Heather,
Hmm... That was a real subtle clue it buffled me as well.
The clues you gave were not very clear. It would have been easier if it's like a song from the 80's and was rehashed for the 90's, just that. But to be performed in an awards gave me a headache as I don't have a good memory when it comes to watching Grammy's or American Music Awards. Not to mention there's lot's of music awards these days like MTV awards, Billboard's Music Awards, etc.
But I do remember a song I hope is the answer to your query. It's the best answer I can give you.
Last year during the 2005 American Music Awards, Sarah McLachlan sang "Time After Time" with the song's original artist Cyndi Lauper. "Time After Time" written by Cyndi and Rob Hyman is the second single (after "Girls Just Want To Have Fun") from Cyndi's debut album "She's So Unusual" released in 1984. It was No. 1 for 2 weeks in June, 1984. The song was rehashed several times by different artists notably by Everything But The Girl on their 1992 album "Acoustic", The Hooters (where Rob Hyman is a member) from their 1996 album "Hooterization: A Retrospective" and by INOJ (pronounced I know J)from her 1998 album "Ready For the World". It has also been covered live or recorded by matchbox twenty, Miles Davis, Eddie Money, Blaque, Eva Cassidy, Willie Nelson, Uncle Kracker, The Beloved, Joe McIntyre, Patti LuPone and Sugar Ray. It was also featured in several movies like Romy And Michele's High School Reunion (1997) and Napoleon Dynamite (2004).
There! I hope I got the right answer.
Maraming Salamat po!
