80s Music/Song inquiry.

Question
Hello!  I was searching for an old song (80's, or possibly seventies), that has a saxaphone solo at certain parts of the song, and happened upon your profile.  The only lyrics that I can recall are "and you thought life was so easy", "your love, your love...", or perhaps I'm slightly off.  There is also, if I'm not mistaken, occasional synth melodies, with an ocean-like sound along with the saxaphone solos.  The saxaphone solos were played on a more seductive note, and the vocalist has a standard pitch, without any distinctions, like many artists.  The vocal harmonization stayed on a constant tone, without raising or lowering too much.  Sorry.  This is the best description I can give.  Thank you for your help, and best of wishes.

Answer
Dear Lance,

It sure sounds like your looking for BAKER STREET by Scottish singer-songwriter GERRY RAFFERTY. Out of his 1978 album CITY TO CITY, the album went to No. 1 on July 8, 1978, following SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER's 24 consecutive weeks at pole position. The song itself was a No. 2 hit on the Hot 100 Chart on June 24, 1978. Here's how it goes:

BAKER STREET / GERRY RAFFERTY

Windin' your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold.
It's got so many people but it's got no soul
And it's taking you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it had everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin'
You're tryin' now
Another year and then you'll be happy
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a lad in his place
He opens the door he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin
Cus he's rollin'
He's the rollin' stone

And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shinin' it's a new morning
You're goin'
You're goin' home.

Maraming salamat po!!
