80s Music/Strut music

Question
Hi Bong,

It's me again! :) How are you? I've got another one for you.
Do you remember the 'strut dance' that came popular on the early eighties? I remember Eat Bulaga had a dance contest during height of the dance craze. I just want to ask if you know the details of these strut songs. The first one has an intro of a somewhat computer like voice synthesized "I am a computer, I am a computer to dance, I am here to militize(??) you", I think if I remember it right, part of the song has "the beat goes on" lyrics on it(or is it on a different song?). The other song has "hold tight" on its lyrics.

Thanks, and hope you can help me out again.

Cheers,
Jo2

Answer
Dear Jo2,

It's in the corner of my mind. Right are the lyrics you gave but I can't remember its title. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's one of the first dance number of OctoMechanics (later OctoManeuvres then Maneuvres).

The HOLD TIGHT I think is by GINO SOCCIO from 1981. GINO is a Canadian-born disco producer who also had another hit with DANCER.

Maraming salamat po!!

Hi Jo2,

Here's a follow-up on that GKNB question. This info was courtesy of a friend VINCENT, who's also a regular letter sender here.

The song is MIRDA ROCK by REGGIE GRIFFIN & TECHNOFUNK from 1982.

Thanks

BONG

I can answer just about everything from the 80`s, rock, pop, trivias, artist infos, Billboard chart positions, albums, etc. But songs that became hit in the Philippines and OPM songs are my expertise. I grew on 80`s music and still listening to 80`s music as it is the best era in music history for me. My friends call me the walking encyclopedia of 80`s music. I got books & collections of CDs, all from the 80`s.
