The answer is The Bulletboys song "For the Love of Money"

I'm certain of it.

Well, the "phlanged echoed" voices would rather make me recall "Money" by Pink Floyd. And the "bass" part in the description fits, too. (I wouldn't call that 'funky' though, but yes, it's on a good groove :))

That is not the correct song.I know the song but not the group. The song money money money was only played on black radio stations in the early 70's. It had a dynamic bass line and was very funky. If anyone out there knows please  tell me.maddmaxx

Expertise

I have an almost criminal retention of most everything about 80s music, regardless of genre. My best areas, however, are alternative, hip-hop, new wave, pop, rap, and one-hit wonders. From Alphaville to Whodini, Afro-Rican to Yaz, I can probably help.

Experience

I came of age in the 80s and still listen to more of its music today than any healthy, well-adjusted male nearing 30 probably should.
