What you're thinking is none other than INFORMATION SOCIETY's WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND (PURE ENERGY), a US dance band formed in Minneapolis in 1985. Original members include PAUL ROBB, JAMES CASSIDY, KURT HARLAND (aka VALAQUEN) and AMANDA KRAMER. They released their self-titled debut album in 1988 which contained WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND (PURE ENERGY), a dance hit which contained a sample of STAR TREK's MR. SPOCK saying "pure energy," and opened with a sample of DR. McCOY, also from STAR TREK, saying, "it's worked so far, but we're not out yet!" WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND was a US #1 dance hit and peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 Chart on October 22, 1988. Here's how it goes:
