80s Music/new wave song title
Expert: Bong Santos - 7/29/2006
Questionhello bong. that's a great name by the way. here is my question.
i'm looking for the name of a song and i only have what i believe
are the lyrics to the chorus and the melody in my head. here
goes.
it's definitely a new wave song sounding very european and
electronicy and electro for it's time. maybe similar to bands such
as Berlin's metro or something like that.
the lyrics i believe to the chorus are as follows:
"baby please...answer me....back in my arms is where i want you
be"
or
"baby please....can't you see.....back in my arms is where i want
you be"
the melody goes like this:
daa daa daa......daa daa di....daadaadaadaadaadaadaadaadaadi
the singer is female...with a blondie kind of sound to her voice.
the chorus is sung in a very seductive sexy style.
i've had this song in my head and i would love to be able to
remember or be told who performed it. any help you can give
would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
AnswerDear Dave,
First, thanks for the compliment. I needed that.
Your lucky you wrote the right expert. Nah, just kidding!
Ok, sounds like CCCAN'T YOU SEE (that's right, Dave, spelled like she was shaking in excitement) by VICIOUS PINK. They were a UK-based duo - instrumentalist BRIAN MOSS & vocalist JOSEPHINE WARDEN - which first started releasing 12"s in 1982, sometimes as VICIOUS PINK PHENOMENA. Their combination of Euro-dance and spacey new wave failed to attract attention until 1984 when they released CCCAN'T YOU SEE. At first it wasn't a hit until little by little new wave friendly DJs across the globe discovered it along with it's flipside, the instrumental 8:15 TO NOWHERE. PARLOPHONE RECORDS released at least 10 different versions of the song and both sides became fave of DJ-only remix services. In 1985, another project FETISH was similarly successful. By 1986, VICIOUS PINK has disbanded but singles kept coming out with new remixes. That year, PARLOPHONE released their lone album ever exclusively in Canada titled VICIOUS PINK (Capitol-6546) which was really a collection of singles. MOSS went on as a member of the alternative rock band DRUG FREE AMERICA until it slowed down in 1999. The next year, he formed MIRAZMA, with ex-DRUG FREE AMERICA vocalist HAYLEY WINDSOR. VICIOUS PINK played only one gig ever - at the Ritz in NYC in 1984 - but it holds a special place in many synth pop fans' hearts.
Here's how it goes:
CCCAN'T YOU SEE / VICIOUS PINK
Last night, we both said things that we regret
Things that we didn't mean
Broke up, all that we ever had
You went, said you weren't coming back
Baby please, can't you see
Back in your arms is where I want to be
Baby please, answer me
Back in your arms is where I want to be
I know, things started going wrong
And yet, my loves goes on and on
I think, that we can make it work
Ignore, all of those things you've heard
Baby please, can't you see
Back in your arms is where I want to be
Baby please, answer me
Back in your arms is where I want to be
Baby please, can't you see
I think you know I want you here with me
Baby please, set me free
I'm calling you why don't you answer me
I'll make it up, to you somehow
I only wish that things could be the same
I'll make you feel, like you used to
Why don't you take me in your arms again
Baby please, can't you see
Back in your arms is where I want to be
Baby please, answer me
Back in your arms is where I want to be
I'll make it up, to you somehow
I only wish that things could be the same
I'll make you feel, like you used to
Why don't you take me in your arms again.
