Rock bands did not have a grand time in the 80s except the early part (part of 70s rock boom) and latter part (THE DAWN and company era) of the decade. Main reason for this is pop song is on the rise what with Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, APO, Raymond Lauchengco, Rey Valera, Ric Segreto, Nonoy Zuniga & Odette Quesada in the limelight. Of course, 80s rock includes hits by SAMPAGUITA and company:
