SMILING MONARCHS was performed by THE ABCEDARIANS from their 1988 album Ab-CD.

MONICA'S LIGHT by RAILWAY CHILDREN from their album RECURRENCE (1988)

IN THE MOOD, this one got me confused as there were several songs titled IN THE MOOD. But looking at the type of songs you were into made me believe you are looking for the one by ROBERT PLANT from his PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS album released in 1983.

DON'T ASK ME was a song by A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS from their 1981 project A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS.

CASTLES IN SPAIN & WE CAN BE BRAVE AGAIN were both by ARMOURY SHOW from their 1985 album WAITING FOR THE FLOODS.
